Mountain Dew Invitational Set for Sept. 18

The University of Florida cross country team will host the 22nd Annual Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the UF Golf Course. The meet with feature six races, highlighted by the collegiate women's 5K and collegiate men's 8K.
The annual event will begin at 8 a.m. (ET) with the intercollegiate/college open women's 5K and follow with the intercollegiate /college open men's 8K at 8:30 a.m. At 9:05 a.m., there will be a varsity high school girls' 5,000 meters race, followed by the varsity boys' 5,000 meters at 9:35 a.m. The final two events will be the junior varsity high school girls' 5,000 meter race at 10:05 a.m. and the junior varsity boys' 5,000 meters at 10:35 a.m.
The Gators have won both the men's and women's collegiate races for the past five years. Current junior Charlotte Browning (Pulborough, England) won the 5K in 2009, clocking in at 17:25.08, the third-best time ever at the Gator Invitational. She also recorded the third-best time on the UF Golf Course in Gator history. Current Junior Anthony Morales (Palm Coast, Fla.) led the way for the men's team in 2009 with a second-place finish in 24:24, the 10th-best time for a Gator on the UF Golf Course.
