Horn In First Place After Day One of NACAC

Sophomore Florida multi-event athlete Gray Horn (Waynesfield, Ohio) currently stands in first place after the opening day of the North America Central America and Caribbean Under-23 Championships held on Friday at Ansin Sports Complex in Mirimar, Fla.
Horn turned in a score of 3,871 to open the first day of competition and lead the field of competitors. He captured wins in the 100-meter dash and the long jump to highlight his performances on the day.
Horn opened by winning the 100m dash in a time of 11.19 (-1.4) before recording a leap of 7.17m/23-6.25 (+0.5) on his third attempt to capture the men's long jump.
Horn responded in the shot put with a personal-record throw of 12.87m/42-2.75 to place second. That broke his previous PB of 12.58m/41-3.25, recorded at the 2010 Southeastern Conference Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
Horn was second in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.97m/6-5.50, before closing the day in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.13.
