Coach Wise Recapped Last Weekend's Victories, Previewed Quick Turnaround
Monday, October 17, 2011 | Volleyball
University of Florida head coach Mary Wise addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Wise discussed the play of the Gators last weekend, earning two road sweeps, and in each of the last three matches they have finished off games great in the final set as the defense has improved to go along with great hitting efficiency on offense. Wise noted that the Gators are not at all flawless and still have a lot of room for improvement and the coaches have just wanted to see progress from month to month.
Wise also said that the biggest focus for their game at South Carolina Wednesday night is defense and ball control on first contact because in a smaller venue, there is not as much room to chase the ball around. Wise mentioned that there are no easy wins in the SEC and it will be difficult with such a quick turnaround after playing on Sunday, but they are a resilient bunch.
The No. 13 Florida volleyball team (15-3, 8-1 SEC) has a quick turnaround, traveling to South Carolina to face the Gamecocks as the second match on ESPNU's Wednesday Night Women's Volleyball doubleheader.
host to LSU on Sunday at 2 p.m.
