Saturday, November 12, 2011 | Volleyball
Senior outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel (Littleton, Colo.) earned Capital One First Team Academic All-District® accolades, as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This honor makes Jaeckel eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America® ballot.
This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
Jaeckel is a fifth-year senior, currently pursuing her graduate degree in Sport Management. She holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Jaeckel ranks in the SEC's top-10 in three statistical categories, including kills (3.42/set - 8th), points (4.17/set - 5th) and service aces (.39/set – 2nd). The Colorado native now ranks in the top-10 in the Florida record books with 1,210 kills, good for 10th all-time at Florida, and 3,114 attacks, coming in at eighth all-time.
