Gators Welcome 12 Swimmers for 2012-13
Monday, December 5, 2011 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving program has signed 12 (five men, seven women) student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to swim for the Gators beginning in 2012-13, head coach Gregg Troy announced.
“I'm extremely pleased with the class that we have coming in next year. Although it's small, it is that way for a reason. Each and everyone of these swimmers has a particular role that they will play once they get into the pool,” remarked Troy. “Not only are they exceptional athletes, but they are all accomplished young men and women – they have all demonstrated their talent both in, and out of the pool, extending their reach far beyond swimming.”
“They all have great backgrounds, with a wealth of experience and excellent coaching expertise behind them, which makes the transition for them into collegiate athletics that much easier – for not only themselves, but our staff as well” explained Troy. “One thing that they definitely bring as a whole is the eagerness to push themselves to be the best they possibly can – they all want to be the first one to touch the wall. It will make for a very exciting season next year.”
The Gators went across the country, extending their reach to Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and even internationally as far as St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Poland.
