Gators Head South For Fiesta on Siesta Key

The University of Florida volleyball team will wrap up its spring season on Saturday when it travels to Siesta Key, Fla., to participate in the Fiesta on Siesta Key sand volleyball tournament with play beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
The Gators will send six teams of two players each to compete in the event, while former Gators Lauren Bledsoe and Erin Fleming will compete in the Senior Division of the event.
The event will feature the following teams: Ave Maria, Florida Atlantic, Florida Christian, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Lake Sumter C.C., LSU, Savannah College of Art and Design, St. Petersburg College, State College of Florida, Trinity College, UCF, Florida, Miami, North Florida, Warner and Webber.
The format will differ from previous years, as the 2011 event will be a one-day event with each of the participating schools competing against one another. In previous years, the Southeastern Conference contested its own unofficial beach volleyball championship within the framework of the Fiesta, but travel restrictions have prevented that in 2011.
Last season, Florida's Kristy Jaeckel and Kelly Murphy claimed the SEC Coaches Beach Challenge Gold Division Individual Championship, powering the Gators to a second-place overall team finish at the event.
