Saturday, May 7, 2011 | Track and Field
The University of Florida track and field team captured four events on Saturday at Mike Long Track to cap off a highly successful appearance at the Seminole Twilight Invitational in Tallahassee, which served as the team's final tune-up before the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships, which will take place May 12-15 in Athens, Ga.
The Gators conclude the final weekend of the 2011 regular season with eight event victories and numerous personal-best marks and times.
Senior pole vaulter Eric Foran (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) captured the men's pole vault event with a personal-best leap of 5.31m/17-5, which goes down eighth-best mark in program history. Teammate Max Lang (Tallahassee, Fla.) had a collegiate-best mark of 5.11m/16-9.25 to finish third in that event.
Sophomore thrower David Triassi (St. Johns, Fla.) opened the day by winning the men's hammer throw event with a toss of 56.15m/184-2, which was right around his personal-best mark of 56.50m/185-4, recorded at the 2011 Tom Jones Memorial Classic on April 16.
Freshman multi-event athlete Brittany Harrell (McComb, Miss.) claimed the women's high jump with a leap of 1.66m/5-5.25, while sophomore Alexis Muniz (Coconut Creek, Fla.) was sixth in the event with a leap of 1.61m/5-3.25.
Senior jumper Bryan Turner (Gainesville, Fla.) placed second in the men's high jump event with a personal-best leap of 2.11m/6-11.
Sophomore hurdler Paige Morton (Stockbridge, Ga.) won the women's 400-meter hurdles event in a time of 1:01.29.

Sophomore sprinter Tony McQuay (Riviera Beach, Fla.) placed second in the men's 400-meter dash in a time of 46.34, while Blake Heriot (Gahanna, Ohio) was fifth in 48.53.
The Gators return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Athens, Ga., to compete in the 2011 SEC Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Georgia. The Florida men will be looking to capture their second consecutive outdoor league title, while the women will be aiming for their second such title in the last three years.
