
Florida Track and Field Signs 13 for 2013 Campaign

The University of Florida track and field program, on the heels of top-10 recruiting classes in 2012, has inked 13 student-athletes for the 2013 season, head coach Mike Holloway announced on Wednesday. This class includes eight state champions and several athletes that have international experience.
“I'm very excited about the men's and women's recruiting classes for the upcoming season,” Holloway said. “Recruiting is the backbone of any program. No matter what we think of ourselves as coaches, we have to have the right athletes in our program to be successful.”
Holloway continued, “This group of young men and women gives us a chance to continue the success we have had here at the University of Florida in track and field and cross country. On behalf of the entire Florida track and field family, we're thrilled to welcome these athletes into the Gator Nation.”

Elliot Clemente, a distance runner from Belen Jesuit Preparatory High School in Miami, Fla., is the 2011 FHSAA Class 3A State Champion in cross country (15:05.99). He has personal records of 4:19.13 in the 1600 and 9:11.95 in the 3200, according to DyeStat. Clemente was a 2010 Foot Locker National Cross Country finalist. Throughout his senior cross country season, Clemente earned seven total titles and owns 11 career titles throughout his career at Belen Jesuit.
Najee Glass is a sprinter from St. Peter's Preparatory High School in Woodbridge, N.J. Glass, who is the freshman record holder for the state of New Jersey in the 400 and 600 meters, has vast experience competing nationally and internationally, as he has earned podium finishes in eight national meets throughout his career. Glass, who boasts personal records of 21.23 (200m), 46.43 (400m) and 62.22 (500m), ran the second-fastest time in the nation and the second fastest all-time in the 500m just a few weeks ago at the New Balance Games and qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships last summer, where he was a member of the sprint medley relay team that broke the world youth record, running the 300 meter leg. Glass is currently ranked in the top five nationally in five events, according to Dye Stat, including indoors for the 200 (third - 21.48), 400 (second - 47.54), 500 (second - 1:02.16), 600 (fifth - 1:20.47), and outdoors for the 400 (third - 46.43).
Arman Hall is a sprinter from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The Raiders as the defending FHSAA Class 4A State Champions and Hall is the reigning state champion in the 400m (46.22). Hall holds personal bests of 10.64 (100m), 20.82 (200m) and is the reigning IAAF World Youth Champion in the 400 meters, recording a personal best time of 46.01. Hall joined Glass as a member of the sprint medley relay team that broke the world youth record at the IAAF World Youth Championships last summer, running the anchor 400 meter leg. Hall is the fastest returning 400 meter runner in the country according to Dye Stat.
Mac Reynolds is a distance runner from Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Reynolds boasts personal bests of 4:29.31 (1600), 9:37.14 (3200) and 15:22.32 (XC) and turned in the eighth-best 5k time in the state of Florida with his PR at the Little Everglades Ranch Pre-State meet. Reynolds has four top-five finishes and took first at the Bale n Trail and the Bronco Bob Classic/St. Johns River Conference meets.
Ryan Schnulle is a distance runner from Charlotte High School in Port Charlotte, Fla. Last year, Schnulle was a member of the second-fastest 4x800 meter relay team in high school history and the fastest in Florida state history, placing second at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. He was also second in the 800 and fourth in the 1600, leading the Tarpons to another FHSAA Class 3A State Championship. Schnulle, who is the 2011 Golden South 800 meter champion, holds personal bests of 1:52.50 (800), 4:15.71 (1600), 15.21.86 (XC) and 17.14.10 (5k). He is a former high school teammate of current Gator middle distance runner Tyler Cardillo.
Antwan Wright is a sprinter from Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach, Fla. Wright placed third in the 100 meters last year at the state meet and fourth in the 200 meters. He holds personal bests of 6.45 (55m) 10.49 (100m) and 21.18 (200).

Shelby Davidson is a distance runner from Cocoa Beach High School in Melbourne, Fla. Davidson, sister of current Gator distance runner Tyler Davidson, is a 2010 Footlocker Finalist and boasts personal bests of 5:00.95 (1600), 10:39.34 (3200) and 17:27.82 (5000). Davidson placed second in the 3200 with a personal best 11:08.02 at the 2011 FHSAA 2A State Championship and finished fourth in the 1600 with a time of 5:00.95. She was also a member of the 4x800 meter relay that placed fourth at the state meet.
Destinee Gause is a sprinter from Reynoldsburg High School in Columbus, Ohio. Gause owns personal bests of 11.63 (100m), 23.50 (200m) and 54.44 (400m) and is the reigning OHSAA Division I State Champion in the 100 and 200 meters, and is a member of the Reynoldsburg team that the state record for the 4x200 meter relay (1:37.02) in 2009. The Reynoldsburg Raiders are the three-time defending OHSAA Division I State Champions and look to four-peat this spring.
Kyra Jefferson is a sprinter from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Mich. Jefferson is the two-time defending MHSAA Division I State Champion in the 200 meters and also clinched the 100 meter title last season. Jefferson is the national champion in both events, having captured victories in the 100 and 200 meters at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals last summer. Jefferson boasts career bests of 7.71 (60m), 11.72 (100m), 23.87 (200m) and 39.53 (300m).
Julie Macedo is a distance runner from the Charter School of Wilmington in Wilmington, Del. Macedo is the reigning DIAA State Champion in cross country and holds personal bests of 4:59.79 (1600), 10:34.70 (3200) and 16:53.00 (5k). Macedo is a three-time DIAA State Champion in cross country and has 12 total victories under her belt.
Robin Reynolds is a sprinter/jumper from Jackson High School in Miami, Fla. Reynolds is the nation's second-best 400 meter athlete, according to Dye Stat, and holds personal bests of 11.56 (100m), 23.67 (200) and 52.15 (400). Reynolds also holds a personal-best in the long jump of 6.07m/19-11. Reynolds is the second-fastest sprinter in the state of Florida, and the fastest 400 runner according to DyeStat, and has the opportunity this year to win more state track titles than anyone in Florida history. Reynolds also boasts international experience as a member of the World Youth team last summer where she finished fifth in the 400 meters and anchored the sprint medley relay to a silver medal finish at the IAAF World Youth Championships.
Shayla Sanders is a sprinter/jumper from Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. Sanders is the nation's best 55 meter and 200 meter sprinter indoors and owns personal bests of 6.85 (55m), 11.45 (100m), 23.45 (200m) and 5.63m/18-6 (long jump). Sanders is a four-time state runner-up and has competed nationally in the World Youth Trials, the adidas Grand Prix and the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Sanders currently has the fastest times in the nation in the 55 (6.85) and 200 (23.89) meters indoors this season.
Hana Sladick is a thrower from Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach, Fla. Sladick specializes in the discus and owns a personal best of 38.85m/127-5.92. Sladick placed third at the FHSAA Class 1A State Championship last year and won both the district and regional meets in her junior season.
