Wednesday, July 11, 2012 | Track and Field
Sophomore Ciarra Brewer (Union City, Calif.) and incoming freshman Arman Hall (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) both advanced in their respective events on the second day of the 2012 IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships at Montju?c Olympic Stadium.
Brewer finished fourth in her flight and ninth overall with her leap of 13.11m/43-0.25, advancing to Thursday's finals. Competition will begin for Brewer at 1:25 p.m. ET. Brewer is the SEC Outdoor Champion in the women's triple jump and already a two-time All-American.
Hall, a two-time Gold medalist at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lille, France, won his heat and finished sixth overall in 46.42 to advance to Thursday's final. Hall is looking to claim medals in both the 400 and the 4x400-meter relay while competing at Montju?c Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. His final is set for 3 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Joining Brewer and Hall on Thursday is incoming freshman Robin Reynolds (Miami, Fla.), who will begin qualification rounds of the women's long jump at 3:40 a.m. ET on Thursday. If Reynolds finishes in the top-12 on Thursday, she will advance to the finals of the women's long jump at 1:55 p.m. ET on Friday.
Competition runs through Sunday, July 15. Montju?c Olympic Stadium in Barcelona was the site of the 1992 Olympic Games, where Team USA brought home 32 medals in track & field, the second-most in American history.
