Hall Uses Upset to Take Home Silver Medal at IAAF World Junior Championships

Incoming freshman Arman Hall (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) claimed a silver medal in the men's 400 meters on the third day of the 2012 IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships at Montju?c Olympic Stadium.
Hall ran a personal best of 45.39 to turn in a runner-up finish in the event, upsetting the fastest high schooler in America in Aldrich Bailey, who shared the bronze medal with Australia's Steven Solomon in 45.52.
Hall, a two-time Gold medalist at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lille, France, now looks to claim some hardware in the 4x400-meter relay with Bailey while competing at Montju?c Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. Heats of the men's 4x400-meter relay are set for 1:35 p.m. ET on Saturday. The U.S. 4x400 has won the last five and all but two golds in World Junior Championships history.
Rising sophomore Ciarra Brewer (Union City, Calif.) finished sixth in the finals of the women's triple jump, improving on her jump from the qualifying rounds by leaping 13.38m/43-10.75 on Thursday. Brewer was the only American representative in the finals of the event and finishes a tremendous freshman campaign that saw her become the SEC Outdoor Champion in the women's triple jump and a two-time All-American.
Incoming freshman Robin Reynolds (Miami, Fla.) finished 10th in her flight and 17th overall in the women's long jump, leaping 6.12m/20-1 in the qualifying round. Reynolds did not advance to the finals of the event.
Rising sophomore Taylor Burke (Medina, Ohio) begins qualification rounds in the women's high jump on Friday, competing in the second flight at 3:30 a.m. ET. Burke is the SEC Outdoor Champion in the event and owns a collegiate best of1.83m/6-0 and a personal best of 1.86m/6-1.25.
Incoming freshman Shayla Sanders (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) will participate in the heats of the women's 4x100-meter relay at 12:35 p.m. ET. The U.S. 4x100 has won the last four golds and 11 medals total (out of 13) in World Junior Championships history.
Competition runs through Sunday, July 15. Montju?c Olympic Stadium in Barcelona was the site of the 1992 Olympic Games, where Team USA brought home 32 medals in track & field, the second-most in American history.
