Two Gators Set to Compete at Pre-Qualifying Draw of Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

The University of Florida's Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.) compete in the prequalifying singles draw of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships beginning Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Collins, a freshman, is 3-0 on the singles court in her young collegiate career after winning all three matches at last weekend's unflighted Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Janowicz, who is 58-15 in her Gator career, also posted a 3-0 record last weekend which included a hard-fought 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 upset win versus Michigan's No. 58-ranked Brooke Bolender.
Collins, who knocked off her first ranked opponent in No. 100-ranked Mimi Nguyen from Michigan last weekend, drew TCU's No. 87-ranked Simona Parajova in her opening round match scheduled for 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
Janowicz takes on Penn State's Chelsea Utting in the first round on Saturday, also at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
Winners advance to the second round and those matches also will be played on Saturday at approximately 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Players need to win three rounds to earn a spot in the 64-player qualifying draw that will be played Oct. 2-3 at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Gators Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.), Caroline Hitimana (Waterloo, Belgium) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) each earned an automatic spot in the qualifying singles draw, with Cercone and Oyen also competing in the doubles draw.
Senior All-American Lauren Embree (Marco Island, Fla.) begins action in the main draw, held Oct. 4-7 at the Riviera Tennis Club, where she will play singles and doubles, partnering with Collins.
