Gators Dominant on Day Two of Bedford Cup

Victories were in no short supply for the Gators competing in Jacksonville, Florida, at the 2014 Bedford Cup hosted by the University of North Florida Saturday.
Peggy Porter, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, will represent the Gators in the singles final of her respective draw. Porter defeated Wendy Zhang of the University of Miami, 6-1, 6-3, in the quarterfinal round and topped teammate Stefani Stojic in the semifinals, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
“The girls played tough today,” said associate head coach Dave Balogh. “Having three Gators in the singles semifinals was nice.”
Stojic and doubles partner Belinda Woolcock moved past North Florida's Esther Zuniga and Quetzali Vazquez, 8-4, to secure their place in a doubles final match.
“Having Peggy in the singles final and Stefani and Belinda in the doubles final gives us a chance to win this. We're looking forward to a tough one tomorrow,” Balogh added.
Porter faces Miami's Sinead Lohan in the singles final match. Stojic and Woolcock take on Lohan and her doubles partner Wendy Zhang in the doubles finale. Fans can follow all the Bedford Cup action in Jacksonville via North Florida's Tournament Central page.
