
Gator Women Head North for Paul Short Run

The Florida women's cross country team made a late addition to its schedule last week, adding Saturday's Paul Short Run to give the Gators an early-season race against some of the top teams in the nation. On Saturday, the Gator women are scheduled to run in the Women's Gold 6K at 11:45 a.m.
The race will take place in Bethlehem, Pa. at the Goodman Campus Course on the campus of Lehigh University.

LONGER DISTANCE
Florida will run their first competitive 6K of the young season. The Gator women previously ran a two-mile at the Western Carolina Invitational and a 5K at the Mountain Dew Invitational. Three runners on the Gators' roster have run a competitive 6K (Macy Huskey, 21:51.58; Amber Johnson, 23:21.99; Taylor Tubbs, 20:59.36).
STAY PERFECT?
The Gator women have won each of their first two competitions of the season, winning the Western Carolina Invitational (Aug. 29) and the Mountain Dew Invitational (Sept. 20).
FRESHMEN PHENOMS
Freshmen Lauren Brasure and Becky Greene have made an immediate impact for the Gators, finishing in the top-three in each of their first two races.
YOUNG LEADER
While only a sophomore, Tubbs is one of the most experienced runners for the Gators. In her second season for the Blue & Orange, Tubbs has finished in the top-three in each of Florida's first two races. At Western Carolina, she took first, while at the Mountain Dew Invite she finished third.

Brasure, Greene and Tubbs have finished 1-2-3 in the Gators' first two races this year.

RAISING THE BAR
Brasure, Greene, Tubbs and redshirt sophomore Devin McDermott have notched personal-bests in each race this season.
BIG STAGE
More than 5,600 runners and 400 schools are expected to compete at the Paul Short Run, including many of the top-ranked teams in the country.
COLDER WEATHER
The temperature will feel much cooler when the Gators run on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to hover in the low 60's for the race. In all, there will be three different women's collegiate races during the day.
SPANGLER SPEAKS
“[The Paul Short Run] is a great meet. A lot of the northeastern and nationally ranked schools will be there, so it is a great opportunity for the women to earn some at-large points towards the national championships. I know [the women] are really looking forward to the meet this weekend.”
