Tuesday, October 7, 2014 | Cross Country
For the second time in her young career, freshman Lauren Brasure has picked up a weekly Southeastern Conference (SEC) award. The Michigan native was named SEC Women's Freshman Runner of the Week on Tuesday.
Brasure earned the award after running the fastest 6K by a freshman in Florida history over the weekend, when she finished 16th out of more than 300 runners at the Paul Short Run with a time of 20:27. Her time was also the ninth-fastest 6K time by a Gator in program history.
The freshman runner previously earned the award two weeks ago after winning her first collegiate race at the Mountain Dew Invitational.
The Gators are off this weekend, but return to action Friday, Nov. 17 at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
