Alex Holston Garners SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Accolades

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Florida sophomore right side Alex Holston is the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading the No. 7 Gators to a sweep of Alabama Friday at the O'Dome.
Holston registered a season-best .600 hitting efficiency against the Crimson Tide and led all players on the court with 16 kills, her second-best output in conference play. The Olney, Md., product also chipped in an assist, four digs and four blocks, her second-most in SEC play, as she helped guide the Gators to their 14th straight victory.
Holston has now hit .500 or above and slammed down double-digit kills in Florida's last three matches as the Gators have continued to cruise through the SEC slate unscathed. The Orange and Blue enter this week's matches against Auburn and Kentucky at 19-3 overall on the season, 13-0 in SEC play.
Holston's .391 hitting efficiency in conference play is second-best for the Gators, while Holston has averaged 4.55 points per set and 3.85 kills per set to rank fifth in SEC play in each category.
Under Holston's watch, Florida has 11 SEC sweeps and has now won 21 straight sets dating back to Oct. 15 at South Carolina.

Florida will return to the O'Dome for their second-to-last regular-season match against Auburn Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Gators and Tigers will meet for the second time this season after clashing in Auburn in both team's SEC opener on Sept. 26. UF owns a 42-1 overall record against AU, including an undefeated 19-0 mark at home in Gainesville. First serve Wednesday is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live on the SEC Network with Adam Amin and Maria Taylor on the call.
