The Florida women's swimming and diving team is No. 16 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America rankings, CSCAA officials announced on Wednesday.
Head Coach Gregg Troy's Gators are 3-2, with Southeastern Conference victories over Arkansas, LSU and Kentucky. UF's losses came against currently ranked No. 7 Minnesota and No. 2 Georgia.
Florida has just two meets left in 2014, beginning with the Georgia Tech Invitational tomorrow through Saturday (Nov. 20-22) in Atlanta, Ga. The final meet of the calendar year is from Dec. 4-6 in Greensboro, N.C. as UF will compete in the U.S. Nationals.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Texas A&M holds down the top spot, followed by Georgia, Stanford, Texas and California. Other SEC schools in the poll include No. 6 Auburn, No. 8 Tennessee and No. 24 Alabama.
UF gets back into dual meet action at the beginning of 2015, as the Gators travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on in-state rival Florida State on Jan. 2. Florida then heads to No. 6 Auburn on Jan. 24, before returning home a week later on Jan. 31 to finish off its regular season against No. 8 Tennessee in the Stephen O'Connell Center Natatorium.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is a professional organization of coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of collegiate swimming and diving. The CSCAA Division I Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Rankings are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.
