The Florida women's swimming and diving team is No. 11 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America rankings, CSCAA officials announced on Thursday.
Head Coach Gregg Troy's Gators are 3-1, with Southeastern Conference victories over now-ranked No. 17 LSU, Arkansas, who is receiving votes to be among the top 25 and Kentucky. UF's lone loss came against the top-ranked team in the country, Georgia. Florida's next meet will be Saturday, Nov. 8, against No. 10 Minnesota.
Georgia holds down the top spot, followed by Texas, Stanford, California and USC. Other SEC schools in the poll include No. 7 Auburn, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 17, LSU, No. 23 Alabama and Arkansas and Missouri who are receiving votes.
Following Saturday's dual meet against UF's second straight top-100 opponent, the Gators have three remaining duals, including two against ranked opponents, beginning on the road at Florida State on Jan. 2. UF then heads to No. 7 Auburn on Jan. 24, before returning home a week later on Jan. 31 to finish off its regular season against No. 14 Tennessee in the Stephen O'Connell Center Natatorium.
In addition, UF will see other ranked opponents at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta (Nov. 20-22), as well as the U.S. Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. (Dec. 4-6).
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is a professional organization of coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of collegiate swimming and diving. The CSCAA Division I Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Rankings are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.
