After leading both the Gator men's and women's squads to third-place finishes at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., March 14-15, Florida head coach Mike Holloway met with the media Monday to recap the indoor season and preview the heart of the upcoming outdoor season.
The Gators hit the road for the prestigious Texas Relays this week, while a group will head to the UNF Invite, and the Orange and Blue dipped their toes in the water outdoors when they sent a contingent of hurdlers and middle-distance runners to the FSU Relays March 21.
In Tallahassee, the Florida youngsters gave a great preview of what's to come this outdoor season.
Freshmen hurdlers Skylar Ross-Ransom (14.09, -1.3) and Yanick Hart (14.15, -1.3) took second and third in the 100 and 110m hurdles, respectively, while UF placed all four women's hurdlers in the top 10 with Tyjah Eady (14.37, -1.3), Ashley Favors (14.39, -1.3) and Ryann McEnany (14.69, -1.3) in fourth, fifth and eighth, respectively.
Florida had four top-10 men's 1500m finishers, paced by Eddie Garcia's 3:57.78 fourth-place finish and Florida PR, while Mac Reynolds (3:58.11), Carlos Miranda (3:59.02) and Brian Gorwitz (3:59.86) rounded out UF's top-10 competitors in seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively. On the women's side in the 1500m, it was Macy Huskey (4:37.78) that led the charge for the Gators with an outdoor best in the event, while all six Gators were top-25 finishers in the race.
