Schober Paces Gators to Top-3 Start at 2014 NCAA Central Regional

Junior Sarah Schober shined in her first day at Karsten Creek Golf Club. Shooting 1-under and placing T3 individually, the Gator golfer led the No. 7 seed Florida women's team to a top-3 finish in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Central Regional, hosted by Oklahoma State.
Earning top-20 individual finishes, freshmen Maria Torres and Karolina Vlckova held their own in round one, as both finished at just 2-over. Vlckova rolled off a team-best five birdies.
Aiming for a top-8 finish to advance to the 2014 NCAA Championship, the UF squad is tied for third at 8-over (296), just one stroke behind the team leaders, third-seed Alabama and 12th-seed California, (295).
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “We had a solid start today. The girls played hard all day through some difficult weather conditions, especially this morning. The next few days we will focus on playing smart and good course management.
“Sarah had a great back nine today. She stayed patient, waited for her birdie looks and got a few coming in.”
