One of Argentina's top amateur players, Alejandro Tosti, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Florida under men's golf head coach J.C. Deacon.
“Alejandro has competed at the highest levels all over the world with a lot of success and has won many championships,” assistant coach John Handrigan said. “His experience will be very valuable as he makes the transition to college golf.”
“As soon as Alejandro arrives, he will have an immediate impact in our lineup as we prepare for the regular-season tournaments and the SEC and NCAA Championships.”
“Thanks to Colombian native and Gator golf alum Camilo Villegas (played at UF from 2001-04), the dream of most South American golfers is to come to the University of Florida. Alejandro is no different; he loves the Gators and will be a great asset to our program on and off the course.”
“His passion for UF is at the same level as Coach Deacon and, when you have that similarity, I know it will be a great fit.”
Tosti will compete in the 2014 Porter Cup held at Niagara Falls Country Club between July 22-26 and at 2014 Western Amateur Championship held at the Beverly County Club in Chicago from July 28-August 2. Earlier this summer, he participated at the British Amateur at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Ireland and at the St. Andrews Links Trophy in Scotland.
