No. 10 Gators Welcome Active Ankle Challenge to Gainesville | Tournament Information

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Let the 31st season of Florida volleyball begin! The No. 10 Gators welcome Georgia Southern, Idaho and Oklahoma to the Stephen C. O'Connell Center August 29 & 30 for the two-day Active Ankle Challenge, featuring six games between the quartet of schools.
With football also kicking off this weekend on the UF campus, special PARKING ARRANGEMENTS have been made for fans attending Saturday's Florida vs. Oklahoma volleyball match at 2:30 p.m.
The Gators finished the 2013 season at 28-4 overall, 16-2 in Southeastern Conference play. Florida finished second in the SEC and made its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament, 24th in program history After eclipsing win No. 700 at UF last season, Wise enters the 2014 campaign with a career record of 795-147 (.844), and is the third-winningest active Division I coach.

· For the first time in a NCAA match, players at UF's Active Ankle Challenge will all be wearing VERT technology, which measure's each athlete's vertical jump. Figures will be broadcast on UF's scoreboards for fan engagement. Read more about VERT technology HERE

· Florida returns 12 letterwinners, five starters, including libero Taylor Unroe, and returns three of five All-Americans from a year ago. The Gators are arguably as deep as they have ever been. The Gators have four defensive specialist upperclassmen, a wealth of talent on the outside and key middles in junior Simone Antwi, who led UF in blocks (.89/s) last season, and 6-4 freshman Rhamat Alhassan

· Florida volleyball head coach Mary Wise enters the 2014 season at 795-147 (.844), just five wins shy of career win No. 800
· Wise, the nation's winningest coach since 1991, owns the most victories among active Division I women's head coaches and is the third-winningest active Division I coach in the country
· Wise will be the fifth Division I female head coach -- and the only active female head coach -- to reach 800 career victories

· The Gators have a loaded non-conference schedule, as five of Florida's first seven matches are against opponents ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25 (in order of schedule): Oklahoma (rv), No. 2 Texas, No. 14 San Diego, No. 5 USC & Marquette (rv)
· Six of Florida's first seven opponents made the 2013 NCAA Tournament: add Georgia Southern to the above list. The Eagles were in the NCAA Gainesville sub-regional last December
there's no place like home
· Florida has just one season remaining before the Stephen C. O'Connell Center undergoes a face lift. Renovations to the O'Dome will begin in March 2015 and are scheduled to be complete in December 2015. UF will play the 2015 volleyball season at Santa Fe College in Gainesville
· Overall home record: 432-60 (.878)
· UF owns nine perfect home seasons in the O'Dome: 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2005 & 2008
· Florida is 46-7 all-time at home in the NCAA Tournament
