GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida women's swimming and diving team is No. 7 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America rankings of 2015, CSCAA officials announced on Thursday.
Head Coach Gregg Troy's Gators last competed in a dual meet at 8th-ranked Auburn, where UF downed the Tigers, 152-148 on Jan. 24th. Last Saturday's win marked the first time since 2009 that Florida's women earned a dual meet win at Auburn.
In dual meets, Florida is 5-2, with Southeastern Conference victories over Arkansas, No. 20 LSU, No. 22 Kentucky and No. 8 Auburn. UF's losses came against currently ranked No. 19 Minnesota and No. 1 Georgia.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Georgia, Stanford, California, Texas A&M and North Carolina rank in the top-five. Other SEC schools in the poll include No. 8 Auburn, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 20 LSU and No. 22 Kentucky.
Florida returns home this weekend to finish off its regular season against Tennessee in the Stephen C. O'Connell on Saturday at 11 a.m. In addition to that meet being senior day, it will be Florida's final meet before the SEC Championships (Feb. 17-21).
Saturday's meet kicks off with diving at 9:30 a.m. before Florida's senior day festivities at 10:30 a.m. The swim portion begins at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network +.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is a professional organization of coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of collegiate swimming and diving. The CSCAA Division I Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Rankings are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.
