2014 Javelin National Champ Fawn Miller Receiving Votes for The Bowerman Trophy Women’s Preseason Watch List

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Gator senior thrower Fawn Miller, who swept both the SEC and NCAA outdoor titles in the javelin last season, enters her final campaign at Florida as one of five women's student-athletes receiving votes for The Bowerman Trophy Women's Preseason Watch List, revealed by the USTFCCCA Thursday afternoon.
Miller was crowned the 2014 NCAA outdoor champion in the javelin last June with a throw of 58.13m/190-8, the best collegiate mark in 2014, the second-best heave in school history and the No. 9 mark all-time in the event. Miller's championship was the first national title for a Gator women's track and field athlete since 2010.
Before her success at NCAAs, Miller won the SEC outdoor javelin title with a SEC Meet Record mark and was also the winner at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville to enter NCAA outdoors as the top-seeded athlete in the event.
Miller went on to win gold in the jav at the NACAC U23 Championships in Kamloops, British Columbia, for Team USA and finished sixth in the javelin at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento last summer.
Both Marquis Dendy and Dedric Dukes represent the Orange and Blue as two of 10 men's students on The Bowerman men's preseason watch list, announced Wednesday.
Florida, the nation's No. 1 program on both the men's and women's sides in the Preseason National Team Computer Rankings, kicks off the 2015 indoor season Friday at the UAB Invitational when a contingent of 12 Gators will take to the track at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
