BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- After two conference sweeps against Texas A&M and Auburn in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center this weekend, Florida sophomore outside hitter Carli Snyder has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
While Snyder hit .609 with zero attack errors this past weekend, her contributions all over the court -- passing, blocking at the net and serving -- helped the Gators (11-4, 3-3 SEC) bounce back with two straight SEC victories after a tough last week on the road.
Snyder started off with a season-best .545 (6-0-11) clip against the Aggies, where she also served up a career-tying two service aces and added two blocks and eight digs in the sweep. Snyder, one of the Gators' primary passers in the back row, was perfect with zero reception errors on 13 attempts. Florida added its 11th consecutive win over Texas A&M and hit a season-best .517 after its lowest-error match of the campaign, thanks to Snyder and fellow sophomore Rhamat Alhassan's outstanding performances on a night that saw four Gators hit above .400.
Snyder kept it hot on Sunday with a career-best .667 hitting efficiency (8-12) and another error-free outing to wrap up the weekend. While she relied on classmates Lindsey Rogers and Sam Dubiel to pick her up from behind the service line against the Tigers, Snyder posted two solo stuffs and had just one reception error in 20 attempts against Auburn. The second-year Gator, who averaged 2.50 digs per set this weekend -- second only to libero Nikki O'Rourke -- had seven scoops against AU.
