Tuesday, October 6, 2015 | Women's Golf
The Florida women's golf team competed in two rounds on Monday at the Windy City Collegiate Championships in Chicago. Sophomore Taylor Tomlinson led the Gators, finishing the day tied for 24th at even par (144). Tomlinson started the day with a 2-under par first-round score, thanks to four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole.
Following the first round, the Gators were 13th among the 15-team field, but rebounded to rise to ninth place after the second round of the day with a total team score of +7 (583).
No. 5 Georgia is leading the field with a -14 (562) team score, and the Bulldogs' Bailey Tardy is tied on top of the individual leaderboard with Northwestern's Hannah Kim at -7 (137) at the par-72 Westmoreland Country Club 6,291-yard course.
Head Coach Emily Glaser:
Thoughts on the Gators' first day of competition:
“I was happy to see us improve after a really rough start. I think overall today our putters were a bit cold, but they kept grinding and kept great attitudes even though the putts weren't falling.”
On tomorrow's game plan:
“Tomorrow, I would like to see us come out of the gate stronger, and attack the golf course, which presented itself to be very scoreable today. We aren't far off, it's a matter of each player capitalizing on one or two more opportunities.”
