GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida volleyball three-time All-American and two-time SEC Player of the Year Jane Collymore is one of eight former Gator Greats in the 2016 UF Athletic Hall of Fame class, announced by the University of Florida F Club and Gator Boosters, Inc., Tuesday.
Collymore helped guide the Gators to four SEC Championships, including undefeated SEC seasons in both 2002 and 2003. During her four-year tenure, the Gators racked up a staggering 62-2 SEC record, advanced to the Final Four in 2002 and played for all the marbles in 2003.
Collymore, who always had a love for music during her tenure donning the Orange and Blue, was named the SEC Player of the Year in both 2003 and 2004, picked up All-America honors in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and spent time on the USA Volleyball National Team.
Collymore finished her career all over the Gator record books, led the SEC her final season on campus with 4.57 kills per set and recorded 46 double-doubles during the course of her tenure on the team. Collymore currently resides in Washington and is pursuing her music career.
In addition to Collymore, the 2016 Hall of Fame class is filled with high-profile Gators, including three Olympians -- Greg Burgess (Swimming), Kerron Clement (Track & Field) and Ryan Lochte (Swimming) -- and a pair of NBA Champions in David Lee and Mike Miller. Jessica Lehnhoff (Tennis), an NCAA Champion, and Jeff Zimmerman (Football), a two-time First-Team All-American, round out this year's inductees.
Each year, the F Club Committee selects members to the Hall of Fame, divided into three different categories: Gator Greats, Distinguished Letterwinners and Honorary Letterwinners. This year's class is composed solely of Gator Greats -- letterwinners who have brought recognition and prominence to the University and themselves by athletic accomplishments as a student-athlete.
The eight-member class of Gator Greats will be honored at an induction banquet at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in spring 2016. Fans interested in attending can contact Kyle Rogers in the Gator Boosters, Inc., office at 352-375-4683, ext. 5000.
