Gators Set for Action-Packed Weekend
Wednesday, October 7, 2015 | Women's Swimming & Diving
GAINESVILLE. Fla. -- The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action this week with a pair of road duals against Vanderbilt and Minnesota.
The Gator women's swimming team will kick things off on Thursday, taking part in their SEC-opener against Vanderbilt inside the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET. No divers will compete as the Vanderbilt women do not have a diving squad.
Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will resume competition on Saturday, squaring away in a non-conference dual against Minnesota at 11 a.m. ET. The meet is scheduled to take place at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis at 11 a.m. ET.
Head coach Gregg Troy's Take on the Week:
“It's been three weeks since we've competed and we'll get a chance to see if the 'newness' from the beginning of school has worn off. We're into our regular routines now so the training has been a little more aggressive over these last three weeks, prior to what it was before the All-Florida Invitational.
“The Women have a unique situation where they will travel to Vanderbilt on Thursday morning and compete Thursday night. It will be a little bit of a tough day. We'll turn around and meet the men in Minnesota on Friday evening and both teams will swim against Minnesota on Saturday.
“Minnesota is a good Big Ten opponent. It's going to give us a great opportunity to see where we're at and it will be a good chance for the freshmen to compete at a high level.”
