The University of Florida football team had two members selected for the 2015 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team, the league announced on Thursday afternoon. Cece Jefferson and Martez Ivey each earned their first postseason honor with their All-Freshman selection.
Jefferson was a solid contributor in every defensive statistical category during the 2015 season. The freshman has amassed 28 tackles, including eight and a half tackles for a loss. The Glen St. Mary native is tied for second on the team with three and a half sacks for a loss of 33 yards. Jefferson also contributed two quarterback hurries, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
After coming back from an early season injury, Ivey made an immediate impact on the offensive line for the Gators. The Apopka native made seven starts this season and was an integral part of the Gator rushing attack amassing over 2,000 yards.
Ivey and Jefferson join seven current teammates-Jon Bullard (2012), Antonio Morrison (2012), Vernon Hargreaves III (2013), Kelvin Taylor (2013), Johnny Townsend (2013), Treon Harris (2014), Jalen Tabor (2014)-as recipients of the award.
The Florida Gators continue their season at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1. The Gators will face the Michigan Wolverines at 1 p.m. on ABC.
