Seven Florida Volleyball Players Named to SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The 2014 SEC Champion Gators also get it done in the classroom. Seven Florida volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2014 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, released Wednesday by the conference office and SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.
Simone Antwi, Abby Detering, Maddy Monserez, Nikki O'Rourke, Holly Pole, éiva Recek and Taylor Unroe all represent the Orange and Blue on the 2014 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, and for each of UF's honorees, the academic honor has become standard.
Antwi, Monserez, O'Rourke, Pole, Recek and Unroe have all been named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll every year of their Gator careers -- including all five years for Unroe and four academic honors already for rising redshirt senior and management major Antwi.
Detering, who enrolled early a year ago prior to her first season on the court as a Gator, picked up her first academic honor donning the Orange and Blue.
Wednesday's honor isn't the first academic recognition for the Florida volleyball program this year, as Pole picked up SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year honors her final season, becoming just the third Gator to win the award, and the first since 2010.
Recek, a Slovenia native, was additionally honored in November for her success off the court and in the classroom at the University of Florida's Outstanding International Student Awards Ceremony, initiated to highlight the academic achievements and the wide range of accomplishments of international students at the UF.
A total of 721 student-athletes were named to the 2014 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll Wednesday by Commissioner Slive, including 52 football, soccer and volleyball Gators. The 2014-15 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll will be released this summer.
