Six Gators Earn All-American Honors on Day Two of NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Jessica Thielmann earned two All-American honors as she paced the University of Florida women's swimming & diving team on day two of the 2015 NCAA Championships. This week's meet is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
After Thielmann earned her third-career All-American accolade yesterday by finishing fifth in the A-Final of the 500-yard freestyle (4:37.22), the Newcastle, England native claimed her fourth and fifth accolades tonight. Individually she placed eighth in the 400-yard individual medley A-Final in 4:07.55.
Thielmann along with classmates Ashlee Linn, Lindsey McKnight and freshman Amelia Maughan combined to place 10th in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a timed final mark of 7:04.48. All four of them earned Honorable Mention All-American honors bringing Linn's career total to five, McKnight's to three and it was Maughan's first-career tribute.
In addition, Hinds garnered her 15th-career All-American honor in the 100-yard butterfly. The Midland, Texas product clocked a time of 51.30 seconds to place fifth in this evening's A-Final.
In the prelims, Hinds and Thielmann clocked UF's second and third quickest times in their respective events. Hinds notched a mark of 51.46 seconds in the 100 fly, while Thielmann touched the wall in 4:06.72 in the 400 IM. Obviously, Hinds reset her mark in the finals.
On the boards, Warner, who earned her first-career All-American accolade yesterday on the one-meter dive, finished outside of the consolation finals after posting a mark of 303.15 points during the three-meter dive prelims.
As a team, the Gators stand in a tie for 13th place with 66 points following day two.
UF is back in action tomorrow for the third and final day of the NCAA Championships with prelims beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET and finals at 7:00 p.m. For ways to follow and watch tomorrow's action, click here.

On day two overall for the Gators…
“Our women turned things around after yesterday, as we were a lot better today than how we performed a day ago. We still had some tremendous swims today. Natalie Hinds set her personal-record in the 100 butterfly, Jessica Thielmann had her lifetime-best time in the 400 IM. And then we came back tonight and we hadn't scored in any relay yet and we came back in what I think is the toughest relay [800 Freestyle] and scored. We had some real big drops [in that race]. Ashlee Linn and Lindsey McKnight turned things around, so it was a lot better day than it was on the first day as we are moving in the right direction. We have to come in tomorrow and keep it moving that way.”

“It means a lot [to me]. I really wanted to go faster, as I wasn't really sure how fast I could go. I just wanted to be confident and have fun. I think I did do that so I'm glad I could post my career-best time.”
Junior Jessica Thielmann:
On swimming the third-fastest 400 IM time in UF history…
“It's really cool. Especially since UF is known as a 400 IM school, so when I found that out I thought that was pretty neat. It really just sets me up well for next year.”

Through day two of competition at the NCAA Championships, Florida has earned eight All-American honors, including:
