Getting to Know Rising Sophomore Defensive Specialist Sam Dubiel
Wednesday, April 29, 2015 | Volleyball
With the end of the 2014-15 school year just around the corner, the Gator volleyball squad will officially close the books on a stellar 2014 campaign, followed by a productive 2015 spring season.
Graduation this weekend means the departure of three Florida defensive specialists in Maddy Monserez, Holly Pole and Taylor Unroe. Therefore, spring season for the Orange and Blue also meant an important opportunity to work on solidifying Florida's back row for the 2015 season.
The Gators return rising senior defensive specialist Nikki O'Rourke, but will also look towards its younger players to step up and take a larger role this upcoming season. UF boasts sophomore defensive specialist Sam Dubiel and redshirt freshman defensive specialist Lindsey Rogers.
Caroline Keesler, for GatorZone.com, chatted with Dubiel just last week to give the Gator faithful a little more insight to Sam, her background and why she's happy to be a Gator.
Sam will be a familiar face for many in the coming years. The rising sophomore played in nine sets her freshman season in 2014, frequently subbing in to serve, including one service ace.
