
Harrison Bader Taken In Third Round Of The MLB Draft By St. Louis

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida junior left fielder Harrison Bader was chosen in the third round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday by the St. Louis Cardinals with the No. 100 overall pick. He joins classmate Richie Martin, a first-round selection of the Oakland A's, in being chosen from the Orange and Blue during the three-day event.
Bader is hitting .292 and is second on the Gators in RBI (61), homers (15) and doubles (14). He is also among the national leaders in outfield assists with 10. The outfielder has a .304 clip in five NCAA Tournament outings and was 3-for-9 (.333) with four RBI, three runs and a homer during the sweep of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional.
As a sophomore, Bader led the squad with a .337 average in his 44 starts in center field and batted third for the Gators. He had a career-high 24 RBI, to go along with 27 runs, 15 walks, six doubles, two homers and two triples. He was 13-for-19 on the basepaths and had five sacrifice hits. Bader committed just one error for a .993 fielding percentage and had three outfield assists. He earned second-team All-SEC recognition after batting .303 with 20 runs, 15 RBI and 10 stolen bases in league action.
In his freshman season of 2013, Bader saw action in all 59 games, with 57 starts (35-LF, 22-CF), and led the Gators with a .312 batting average and 15 stolen bases in 21 attempts. He tied for the team lead with 69 hits and was second on the squad with 37 runs, 17 multiple-hit games and a .371 on-base percentage. The Bronxville, N.Y., native drew 18 walks and chipped in with 10 extra-base hits (seven doubles, two triples and one homer). He earned a berth on the SEC's All-Freshman Team and ranked second on the squad in league action with a .307 batting average. Bader tied for second on the club with 13 RBI, tied for fourth with 14 runs and led Florida with seven stolen bases in eight attempts.
