Strayer Earns Spot in Cape League All-Star Game

Cash Strayer is batting .296 with three homers, two doubles, 12 runs and nine RBI in 17 games for the Brewster Whitecaps.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators rising sophomore outfielder Cash Strayer has been selected to compete in the Cape Cod Baseball League's 35th annual East vs. West All-Star Game on Saturday, July 18.
Scheduled to take place at the Harwich Mariners' Whitehouse Field on Saturday at 6:05 p.m., the 28-man All-Star Game rosters were chosen by the 10 Cape League managers. Representing the Brewster Whitecaps as a reserve outfielder, Strayer is the lone Gator set to partake in All-Star festivities.
Fresh off his true freshman campaign in Orange & Blue, Strayer has played in 17 games for Brewster this summer and is batting .296/.418/.500 across 54 at bats. The Tampa, Fla. native has slugged three homers and two doubles while tallying 12 runs scored, nine RBI, 10 walks and four stolen bases. He owns a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and one assist over 10 defensive chances in right field.
Appearing in 32 games highlighted by 30 starts in right field (29) and designated hitter (one) at Florida, Strayer batted fourth (three) or fifth (18) in the starting lineup 21 times in his rookie season. Slashing .272/.375/.447 for an .822 OPS in 103 at bats, he totaled four homers, one triple, four doubles, 26 RBI, 22 runs and 16 walks. Strayer also came through with five sacrifice flies on top of nine multi-hit efforts and five multi-RBI games.
