Gainesville Native Ann-Lorrayne Bzoch Joins Florida Volleyball Program

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- After opening her collegiate volleyball career at Santa Fe College last season, defensive specialist and Gainesville native Ann-Lorrayne Bzoch won't travel far as the newest addition to the Gator volleyball program, announced by UF head coach Mary Wise Friday.
Bzoch, who will sport No. 24 for the Orange and Blue, made history as the first signee in Santa Fe volleyball history a year-and-a-half ago following her prep career at St. Francis Catholic, and then helped guide the Saints through their inaugural season of volleyball in 2014 as the starting libero. Bzoch was the only athlete on the Santa Fe roster to play in all 141 sets last season, while averaging 4.29 digs per set to lead SF to the Mid-Florida Conference Championship crown. Bzoch and the Saints racked up a 31-7 overall record and an 8-2 mark in conference play in the program's debut campaign under former Gators' longtime assistant and Santa Fe head coach Nick Cheronis.
"We're excited to welcome Ann-Lorrayne to the Gator Volleyball Family,” Wise remarked. “Her back-row talents will add depth to a needed area. Having played for Nick Cheronis while both in high school and college, the transition for Ann will be smoother than for most."
BZOCH'S FRESHMAN SEASON RECAP
Was Santa Fe's starting libero her freshman season… Helped lead the Saints to their first-ever Mid-Florida Conference crown with a 31-7 overall record and 8-2 mark in conference play… Played all 141 sets her first collegiate season, the only player on the SF roster to do so… Racked up 605 digs (4.29/s) to lead the way for Santa Fe in the back row… Served up 15 aces (0.11/s) and had 27 assists (0.19)… Led Santa Fe on a run in the FCSAA state tournament as the Saints advanced to the FCSAA State Semifinal/NJCAA District Final before falling short to Miami Dade College in the match that would have served as SF's bid to the NJCAA National Tournament… Ranked 12th in the FCSAA in digs per set (4.29) and seventh in overall digs (605) her inaugural campaign… Scooped up 20+ digs in 11 different matches in 2014, including a career-high 27 against both Indian River State College and Pasco-Hernando State College… Racked up double-digit digs in 33 of Santa Fe's 38 contests.
