Guyton Named SEC Men’s Freshman Runner of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida cross country student-athlete Jack Guyton was named the SEC Men's Freshman Runner of the Week, per a release from the conference office on Tuesday.
Guyton was the top freshman finisher at last Friday's Covered Bridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State. The Tampa, Fla. native clocked a time of 20:37.91 in the 6.4-kilometer race, placing 10th overall.
As the Gators' fifth scorer, Guyton was a key component in their 28-point victory over No. 27 Florida State. It also helped Florida's men open its season with a first-place finish for an 11th consecutive year.
UP NEXT
Guyton's and the Gators' next race is next Saturday (Sept. 19), when they host the Mountain Dew Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course. The men's 8-kilometer race is scheduled for 7:55 a.m. ET, while the women's 5-kilometer race will commence at 8:30 a.m. ET.
