Florida swimmers honored following sweep over FSU
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Three members from the University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named to Southeastern Conference Athlete of the Week Awards, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore Jan Switkowski has been named the Male Swimmer of the Week while senior Kahlia Warner brings home the Female Diver of the Week. Newcomer Hannah Burns was also named the Female Freshman of the week.
The trio accepts the awards following a pair of wins over the Florida State Seminoles on Jan. 2, inside the Stephen C. O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida. The men's team scored a 188-109 win over the 24th-ranked Seminoles while the 11th-ranked Florida women registered a 200-93 victory over the FSU women.
Male Swimmer of the Week: Switkowski (Lublin, Poland)
Switkowski, who gathers the accolade for the second time this season, put together a four-win performance in UF's 188-109 win over the 23rd-ranked Seminoles and won two individual performances in addition to a pair of relay wins. All four performances were swum in a long-course setting (50-meter pool).

Female Diver of the Week: Warner (Queensland, Australia)
Warner highlighted the Florida diving against Florida State on Jan. 2, posting wins off both the one and three-meter boards. She registered 18 total points for the Gators and gave the Orange and Blue an early lead to open competition.

Female Freshman of the Week: Burns (Lake City, Florida)
Burns, a newcomer to the program, shined in Florida's 200-93 win over Florida State on Jan. 2, swimming to a pair of wins and a second-place finish to total 24 points. She took first in the 200 breaststroke and was a member of Florida's winning 400 medley relay while earning a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. In addition, Burns exhibition time ranked second overall in the 200-meter IM.

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams welcome the Auburn Tigers to Gainesville on Jan. 23, for an SEC dual in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. For the second meet in a row, the Gators will swim a long course setting (50-meter pool) where swimmers will have the opportunities to meet their respective country's Olympic Trial-qualifying standards. The meet will also serve as Florida's final home meet of the season. All UF seniors will be honored prior to the start of Saturday's meet.
