Alhassan's six blocks were the most by any SEC player in a 3-set match this past weekend
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior All-American middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan's six blocks, 10 kills and 15 points in Florida's sweep over South Carolina on Sunday (Oct. 9) netted her Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday (Oct. 10) afternoon.
Alhassan's match-high six blocks against the Gamecocks tied the third-best total in a 3-set SEC match this season. Those six blocks also equaled the highest total from any SEC match this past week, with the only other 6-block outing coming in a 4-set match.
The Glenarden, Md. native's 15 points were also a match-high, and marked the 10th time this season she reached double figures.
Alhassan leads the SEC in blocks per set in conference matches (1.47) and ranks second among conference players in blocks per set for all matches (1.40) this season. She also ranks third in overall hitting efficiency (.411) among SEC players.
