Florida faces reigning SEC champ Texas A&M in a televised match Sunday evening
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 9 Gators, who also moved up four spots to No. 9 in the second edition of the NCAA RPI rankings, are attempting to keep their momentum on the back end of a three-match road trip.
Florida will make its way to Baton Rouge and face LSU Friday night, followed by a Sunday showdown with defending SEC champion Texas A&M in College Station. SEC Network will provide television coverage Sunday, with Paul Sunderland and Missy Whittemore on the call.
Three-time All-American right side Alex Holston shined for the Gators in their sweep of LSU last season, notching 14 kills, nine digs, and four blocks en route to a 17-point outing. UF split its two matchups with the Aggies last year, as it swept an October match in Gainesville and dropped the final three sets of a 5-set affair in College Station.
Junior All-American middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan hit .810, the fifth-best clip in program history, in UF's win over Texas A&M, and totaled 34 kills, seven blocks, 38 points and a .681 clip for both matches.
The Gators have won nine straight against LSU, while last November's loss to Texas A&M snapped UF's 11-match winning streak in the series.
FLORIDA NATIONALLY ENTERING THIS WEEKEND
Florida's offense continues to rank No. 1 nationally (.332), along with 21st in the country in kills per set (14.19).
