The two Gators will advance to the main draw of the tournament in Tallahassee alongside seven of their teammates

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -– Freshman Stephen Madonia and redshirt junior Joshua Wardell both advanced through the Round of 32 on Thursday of the ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle. They will both compete Friday morning for a place in the main draw of the tournament. Seven of their teammates will join them on Friday to begin the main draw competition.

No. 11 Madonia will face his toughest competition so far on Friday when he faces No. 1 Cole Fiegel from Georgia Tech. No. 8 Wardell will face Miami's Dane Dunlap in the Round of 32.

The two aren't the only Gators heading into Friday's competition with a high ranking, as four of their teammates were given high seeds in the main draw of the tournament. Elliott Orkin and Chase Perez-Blanco received seeds inside the top 10 (second and sixth, respectively), and Johannes Ingildsen and Jordan Belga received seeds in the top 20 (13 and 14, respectively).

Format & Scoring

No-ad scoring will be used in all ITA singles and doubles matches in the fall season.
In all 2016 ITA Regional Championships events a doubles match must consist of a minimum of an 8-game pro set (tiebreak at 7-all), with the semifinals and finals doubles matches consisting of two out of three sets, with a Match Tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
