No. 6 Gators Travel to Georgia for Primetime TV Match
Tuesday, November 1, 2016 | Volleyball
Florida has won four of its last eight matches in straight sets
ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 6 Gators, up three spots from last week and up one spot to No. 7 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, take their eight-match winning streak to Georgia on Wednesday (Nov. 2) night.
First serve is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET, and live television coverage will be provided by ESPNU, with Sam Gore and Missy Whittemore on the call.
This will be the 10th true road match of the season for the Gators, who enter the week tied for sixth nationally in road wins (nine). UF is also one of five teams (Coastal Carolina, Dayton, Princeton, and Western Kentucky) with an undefeated road record in at least nine away matches.
UF enters Wednesday with a 425-46 all-time record in SEC play, including a 399-24 mark in the past 25 seasons under head coach Mary Wise.
A win would also move the Gators, 10-1 in SEC play, into sole possession of first place in the conference standings, as fellow league leaders Kentucky and Missouri are idle until Friday.
In UF's first meeting with Georgia, which was less than two weeks ago, three-time All-American right side Alex Holston totaled 15 kills and zero errors on 28 total attacks. Holston was the first Gator since Olympian Kelly Murphy (2010) to log 15-plus kills and zero errors on at least 25 attacks. Holston hit .538, while junior outside hitter Carli Snyder matched her 15 kills and hit .583 for the match. As a team, the Gators hit .438 and had just six errors.
