TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Florida cross country program looks to extend its postseason at Friday's (Nov. 11) NCAA South Regional Championship, hosted by Florida State University.
The Gators are aiming to bounce back from eighth-place finishes in both the men's and women's races at the SEC Championship two weeks ago.
Individually, sophomore Elisabeth Bergh and redshirt senior Mac Reynolds enjoyed successful runs at the SEC Championship. Bergh led the women's team and placed sixth overall, becoming the first Gator since 2013 to earn an All-SEC First Team accolade. Reynolds ran one of the best races of his five-year career, pacing the men with a 19th-place finish.
UF newcomers Jessica Pascoe (32nd overall) and Colin Schaefer (54th overall) both earned SEC All-Freshman Team accolades.
The Gators enter this weekend ranked sixth in the region on both sides, and only the top two teams and top four individuals on non-qualifying teams will automatically advance to next Saturday's (Nov. 19) NCAA Championship. UF finished third on the men's side and ninth on the women's side at last season's NCAA South Regional Championship.

- Since the event was renamed the NCAA South Regional Championship in 1998, Florida's women own two titles (1998, 2009).
- The Gator men have advanced to the NCAA Championship as a team five times since 2004.
- UF's men have finished outside the top four just two times since 1996.
- Prior to the last two seasons, Florida's women had not placed outside the top four since 2005.
- Senior Taylor Tubbs, a USTFCCCA All-South Region honoree in 2014, missed out on a second consecutive all-region accolade by one spot, finishing 26th overall at last year's NCAA South Regional Championship.
- As a junior in 2015, Carlos Miranda finished 21st overall to earn a USTFCCCA All-South Region accolade.
- Jimmy Clark (fourth) and Eddie Garcia (fifth) both advanced to the NCAA Championship individually as redshirt seniors last season.
