BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two weeks after he won his first SEC honor of the season, Martez Ivey has again been named the SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday. Ivey received the recognition after the league's Week 11 games.
In Florida's 20-7 win over South Carolina, which put the Gators one win away from clinching the SEC East, Ivey anchored an offensive line that did well in protecting Florida in both rushing and passing. The line gave up just one sack and allowed no QB hurries, which aided quarterback Austin Appleby in throwing for 201 yards and two touchdowns, and it also helped running back Jordan Scarlett to a career-high 134 rushing yards and his second game of 100+ yards this year.
UF currently ranks second in the league in sacks against, allowing just 13 in nine games (averaging at 1.44 per game), and sixth in pass offense, averaging 225.4 yards per game.
Ivey received his first weekly honor this season after Florida's 24-10 win over Georgia.
In 2015, Ivey was named to the SEC Coaches All-Freshman team and helped pave the way for running back Kelvin Taylor to rush for 1,035 yards. Taylor became just the ninth player in school history to break the 1,000-yard mark.
The list of SEC Players of the Week selections for Week 11 is as follows:
