2016: Threw for 1,447 yards with 10 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions as he was 127-for-209 passing for a 128.01 pass efficiency rating... Became the first graduate transfer to start at quarterback for the Gators in program history (at Tennessee)… In that start at UT, Appleby went 23-for-39 with 296 yards and three touchdowns, which ranks third behind only Shane Matthews (332) and Tim Tebow (300) for passing yards in their UF debut... In his lone start in The Swamp, Appleby completed 17 of 21 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns against South Carolina… His 81% completion percentage against the Gamecocks ranks fifth all-time in a single game in the Florida record book and was the highest completion percentage since Rex Grossman completed 36-of-46 passes (78.3%) against Georgia in 2002… Engineered UF’s victory at LSU where the Gators recorded their first road win over a SEC west opponent since 2012 (Texas A&M) and first win at Baton Rouge since 2009… Recorded a 98-yard touchdown pass to Tyrie Cleveland with 8:57 left in the 3rd quarter at LSU ranks as the second longest touchdown passing play in UF history… In terms of overall accuracy percentage (as calculated by Pro Football Focus) — which is completion percentage adjusted for throwaways, batted passes and drops —Appleby had the best numbers of any quarterback all season against Alabama, except Deshaun Watson in the CFP Championship Game... His accuracy percentage against the Crimson Tide was 74.3 percent as he completed 26-of-35 passes (26-of-39 overall) for 261 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions… Went 14-of-25 for 222 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Florida’s 30-3 Outback Bowl win over Iowa… SEC Academic Honor Roll.
