Allie Monserez became the first Gator in the 25-point rally scoring era (introduced in 2008) to amass 52 assists in a three-set match
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the seventh time this season, redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez has been named SEC Setter of the Week, the conference office announced Monday (Nov. 28) afternoon.
Monserez amassed 90 assists in last week's pair of wins, averaging a whopping 12.86 assists per set, well above her nation-leading season average of 12.29. She also averaged 2.0 digs per set, including nine total digs in the team's SEC title-clinching win at Arkansas.
The Windemere, Fla. native amassed 52 assists in UF's sweep of Arkansas, which was the second-highest total by a Division I player in a three-set match this season. It was the highest three-set assist total by a Gator since 2007, when Angie McGinnis tallied 52 in a sweep of Oklahoma.
Monserez has seven matches of 50-plus assists this season, only one of which came in a five-set affair. Her efforts also helped the Gators hit .412 against Arkansas, marking the eighth time this year they eclipsed a .400 hitting percentage.
