The two Gators are vying for a spot on the US Collegiate National Team.
Rising Florida junior volleyball players Abby Detering and Carli Snyder will make Colorado Springs, Colo., their home away from home this weekend at the USA Volleyball National Team tryouts at the Olympic Training Center.
The Gators setter with a wicked serve, Detering, and outside hitter with a rocket of an arm, Snyder, are no strangers to international competition -- both played in the 2015 European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia, last summer. Snyder walked away with a gold medal alongside Rhamat Alhassan on USA's Junior National Team. In 2012, she was named the Most Valuable Player at the NORCECA Girls' U18 Continental Championships after helping Team USA to the gold medal with 17 points against the Dominican Republic.
Detering took the 2015 European Global Challenge tour with the BIP Midwest U-22 team and played on the USA Select A2 Team in 2011.
Also of note, Gator head coach Mary Wise will be on site in Colorado Springs as an evaluator.
