Eddie Garcia is the first UF man earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in four years
NEW ORLEANS – Florida saw two of its runners earn United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Individual honors, while both its men's and women's teams garnered All-Academic plaudits for the 2015 cross country season.
Redshirt senior Eddie Garcia and freshman Maria Larsen were the Gators' individual recipients.
Garcia is the first UF men's cross country runner to earn the award since Mark Parrish (2011). Larsen's honor is the fourth in the last three seasons for UF's women.
This marks the fourth consecutive campaign in which the Gator women garnered an All-Academic Team laurel. Prior to earning the award for this past season, the men had not qualified for it since 2012.
In order to qualify for the awards, individuals must have finished in the top 25 at an NCAA regional meet or collect All-America honors at the national meet, in addition to carrying a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25. Qualifying teams fielded five competitors at an NCAA regional meet and posted a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0.
