UCF, UNC in the rearview mirror, FSU, Georgia Tech up next for Gators.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- It's the mid-way point of the Gators' spring volleyball schedule -- UCF at Disney, check. UNC, check.
Next up the Gators will head to the school out west -- FSU -- Saturday for a friendly at noon in Tully Gym before hosting Georgia Tech in the Lemerand Athletic Center April 16 at 11 a.m. for Florida's Spring Fling to wrap up spring training.
Last time out for the Gators, the Orange and Blue met North Carolina for their annual tilt in Atlanta as part of Georgia Tech's spring tournament March 26.
In a predetermined five sets, UNC took three at Freshman Gym on the Yellowjackets' campus, Florida two. The Gators started and finished with set wins, but succumbed to the Tar Heels in sets two, three and four.
With All-American Rhamat Alhassan sidelined with a concussion, last Saturday's match was a crucial opportunity for freshman turning sophomore middle Taelor Kellum to play the entire match in the front row.
For the second match in a row, Florida saw good stuff from early enrollee Mia Sokolowski, who hit .300 against the Heels.
Also on the pins, rising redshirt junior Shainah Joseph saw action both on the right and left sides for the Orange and Blue against UNC, turning in a .333 clip to highlight the day.
Florida's trip wasn't without a little fun in Atlanta.

The Gators headed straight from the volleyball gym to the McAuley Aquatic Center on Georgia Tech's campus Saturday evening to watch the final night of the 2016 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships. Florida finished third, matching their highest finish under head coach Gregg Troy behind NCAA Co-Swimmer of the Year Caeleb Dressel's dominating performances.
