TULSA, Okla. – The 2016 season came to an end on Friday afternoon for the No. 10 University of Florida men's tennis team. Seniors
Diego Hidalgo and
Gordon Watson concluded play in the NCAA Individual Championships in the Round of 16.
Watson and Hidalgo were defeated by ETSU's Biosca and Ribeiro, 6-4, 7-5 on Friday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The Gator tandem completes their careers in the Orange and Blue with a 35-20 record over the past two seasons playing side-by-side.
This season, the pairing has compiled a 25-10 record that includes three defeats of Top-5 opponents, 14 weeks atop the ITA doubles rankings and All-America honors. The All-American status is the first time a Gator doubles pair has received the honor since Stephane Piro and Bob van Overbeek during the 2013 season.
Up next, the Gators will return seven members of the 2016 squad for the 2017 season with the addition of three new members in Gainesville.
