Three Gators help US U-23 Team win Nordic Tournament

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three Gators helped the U.S. Under-23 National Team win the Nordic Tournament held at St. George's Park Football Centre, the National Training Center of the England FA. Rising seniors Meggie Dougherty Howard and Savannah Jordan along with 2015 senior Claire Falknor were part of the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team's 22-player roster. Two Gators - Meggie Dougherty Howard (#9) and Savannah Jordan (#3) were in the U.S. U-23 starting lineup for the June 7 match versus England. Florida's Claire Falknor also appeared in the match as a second-half substitute.U.S. Results:
Jordan scored three goals in the U.S.'s first two wins. She scored the first two goals in the U.S.'s 3-1 win against Sweden on June 2. She also turned in the game-winning goal two minutes in after entering the match at the start of the second half in the 2-1 win over Norway on June 4. Falknor also appeared in the match, substituting in during the second half.
All three Gators appeared in the U.S.'s final match, a 1-1 tie versus England on June 7, with Dougherty Howard and Jordan in starting lineup and Falknor appearing as a second-half sub.
The U.S. claimed the four-team tournament title on goal difference.
About the Gators on the U.S. U-23 Team:
Dougherty Howard made her debut on a U.S. U-23 roster as she received her first call into a U.S. U-23 camp in early May. The midfielder earned All-SEC second team honors in 2015. Her eight assists stood second among the Gators in 2015 and was fifth in the league. She is playing again this summer with the Washington Spirit Reserves of the USL W-League.
Falknor was a 2015 All-American and on the 2015 All-Southeastern Conference Team. She started every match her senior season, while playing the entirety of 21, and finishing her career with 65 consecutive starts. Both Jordan and Falknor were part of the U.S.'s 2015 U-23 roster at the Four Nations Tournament in Norway.
Jordan, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America first-team selection in 2015, was second in last season's NCAA standings with 24 goals and 55 points. The 2015 SEC Offensive Player of the Year is currently among the top 10 on the following Florida career lists - No. 4 goals (65), No. 6 points (148), No. T2 game-winning goals (18) and No. 4 shots (342).
