Carli Snyder had a career best 21 kills and points in UF's 3-1 win over the Thundering Herd.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida junior outside hitter Carli Snyder had a career high 21 kills and 21 points to pick up Active Ankle Challenge MVP honors as the No. 7 Gators battled to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22) victory against a tough Marshall squad Saturday afternoon in the Lemerand Center.
The Thundering Herd grabbed the opening set 25-23, but Florida's three-headed offensive monster, consisting of Snyder, Alex Holston (17k, 8b) and Rhamat Alhassan (13k, 8b), posted 60 of the Gators' 75 points down the stretch as Florida went on to win the next three sets to rack up UF's 10th straight win. Both Alhassan and Holston joined Snyder on the All-Tournament Team.
Redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez posted her first double-double as a Gator with a career high 53 assists, while scooping up a team-tying 12 digs alongside junior libero Caroline Knop to aid UF's efforts. Freshman Allie Gregory made it three Gators in double-digit digs with 10, her most this season.
It was Florida's potent block that was the difference in Saturday's thrilling tournament finale: the Gators posted 15 blocks to just one for the Thundering Herd. Holston had a career high eight roofs, Alhassan tied her season best block tally with eight – including two solo stuffs – and freshman middle Rachael Kramer got up for a career best six blocks towards the UF tally.
